Of the fifty-two Charlie Chan films, the official Charlie Chan cannon includes only the films done by 20th Century Fox and Monogram Pictures between 1931 and 1949. These films starred Warner Oland, Sidney Toler and Roland Winters. There were 44 of them, four of which are lost.
*Eight films are not part of the official Charlie Chan cannon. The two Cuban films “La serpiente roja” (1937) and “El monstruo en la sombra” (1955) feature a Chinese detective called Chan Li Po which is Cuba’s Charlie Chan.
