When the police, under the direction of Lt. Rivera (Reni Santoni), try to arrest the head of a smuggling ring they find out that he is Zoltan Gregory (Richard Lynch), a diplomat with the Bulgarian embassy and has diplomatic immunity.  On hand for the attempted bust are police officer Brooke McKenzie (Melody Anderson) and Jonathan Chase (Simon MacCorkindale).

Keeping tabs on Zoltan, Chase turns into a Hawk and follows him.  He overhears Zoltan talking to a man named Harris (Peter Fox), half of a team of illusionists that call their act Harris and Ross.  The team works with big cats in their magic show.  Later that night Harris is found dead.  The death appears to have been done by one of the cats, a tiger named Tipsy.  When an attempt is made on Chase’s and Brooke’s lives, they believe that Tipsy was framed and Harris was murdered.

Chase and Brooke work together to try to prove that Tipsy is innocent while looking for, not only the real killer but, the relationship between Zoltan and the magic show.

This episode expands a little bit on the origins of Jonathan Chase’s powers and abilities in the opening credits.  Unfortunately, the explanation is still rather muddy.  There is quite a bit being glossed over, not just Chase’s origins.  Like how his suits rip apart when he turns into a panther but when he returns to human form he is completely dressed.  The whole premise of the show is fantasy anyway.  It’s also a lot of fun.

In this episode Chase turns into a hawk and a panther.  Chase has a private laboratory in his home with glass cages.  The animals in the glass compartments change each episode.  In this episode he has a lion and a cougar.  The animals are shown on back screen unless Chase is holding and examining one.

Glynn Turman, from the series pilot, was replaced by Michael D. Roberts as Chase’s sidekick Tyrone C. Earl.  The narration in the beginning of the show is done by William Conrad.  Jonathan Goldsmith, who played Felix Manning, the slimy agent, also played the part of “The Most Interesting Man in the World” between 2006 and 2016 in the Dos Equis beer commercials.
